Why You Shouldn't Contact Teams By Yourself

Updated: Dec 3, 2023

As a basketball player, you may be tempted to contact teams directly in order to try out for a roster spot. However, there are several reasons why you should avoid doing this.

First, contacting teams directly can come across as unprofessional. Teams are more likely to be interested in players who have been recommended by a coach or agent. If you contact a team directly, you may be seen as a self-promoter and not taken seriously.

Second, contacting teams directly is a waste of time. Teams are often inundated with emails and phone calls from players who are looking to tryout. If you don't have a strong recommendation such as HoopTicket or someone who played in that team, your chances of getting a response are slim.

If you are serious about playing professional basketball, it is important to work with a coach or agent who can help you get noticed by teams, or at least to look like you're working with someone. Here is a free step by step guide to contact every single basketball agent in the world:

  1. Download this list of agents with their email and WhatsApp number

  2. Get a professional resume by yourself or using our free tool : Resume Builder

  3. Write an email using this ChatGTP prompt "Write me a professional email to send to basketball agents for them to help me"

  4. Use our free HoopTicket.AI tool to send that email to all the agents, but also to send a WhatsApp message directly to their phone.

Once you have found someone to help you or vouch for you, you can focus on the only thing that will help you get a contract : start working on your game and getting ready for tryouts. By following these very simple tips, you can increase your chances of playing professional basketball.

Apply for a free consultation to see if and how HoopTicket can help you get a contract overseas.
